Philoxenia House Liturgy and the Blessing Service

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in the Montlake neighborhood of Seattle gathered in faith and fellowship for the Philoxenia House Liturgy and Blessing Service. This special day was a testament to the parish’s unwavering commitment to hospitality and service, offering love and support to those in need. His Eminence the Most Rev. Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco led the Hierarchical Liturgy, joined by the parish clergy, Fr. Photios Dumont and Fr. Spyridon Rice, along with visiting clergy. Following the service, the faithful came together for the blessing of the Philoxenia House, a sanctuary of warmth and care for those undergoing treatment at Fred Hutch Cancer Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital. The day concluded with a joyous gathering, where the community reflected on the mission of Philoxenia—extending friendship, comfort, and love to strangers in their time of need.
